Fundamental study on the factor causing ventilator associated pneumonia

(in English) Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP) is infection that patient has no pneumonia at the time of hospitalization or before the start of artificial respiration management and develops at more than 48 hours of ventilation management by tracheal intubation. VAP are extrinsic and intrinsic factor. The past studies suggest that general bacteria caused VAP with extrinsic factor. We thought that heterotrophic bacteria as well as general bacteria might cause VAP with extrinsic factor and examined the change in bacterial number with time into a simulated ventilator circuit. In addition, we examined whether the intubation tube using the conventional cuff and the tapered cuff effected for VAP with intrinsic factor and counted number of bacteria passed through a cuff.
