With the increasing focuses on multicore processors, the OSCAR compiler is known as an automatically parallelizing compiler to optimize source codes to gain better performance. However, it only takes programs written in C or Fortran as input. Currently, as one of the object-oriented languages, C++ is widely used for program development. Such language has some unique features like virtual function override and template but difficult for the compiler to manipulate. In this paper, we will discuss the challenges in optimizing C++ programs. Besides, we evaluated our approach by using a C++ sample code referred from SPEC CPU 2006 447.dealII. The results show that our compiler achieved 3.27 times speedup with 6 cores compared to the g++ O2 optimization. |
