The electric sliding contact mechanism is a mechanism for energizing while sliding an object such as a pantograph of an electric railway, a trolley wire, and a brush-slip ring, and is used in a wide range of fields in industry. The sliding material wears due to prolonged friction. As a result, energization is not performed normally, which leads to failure of the electric device and reduction in reliability and life. Therefore, it is important to use a material that maintains good lubricity and stable contact electric resistance as an ideal sliding energizing material (1).
In this study, we conducted a sliding current test using molybdenum disulfide (MoS₂), a solid lubricant, and examined the effect of molybdenum disulfide mainly on friction coefficient characteristics and contact electric resistance characteristics. Compared to pure copper, the friction coefficient was reduced to about 1/5 and the contact electric resistance was increased to about 4 times, confirming the possibility of application to the electric sliding contact mechanism. |
