A Research on Performance Evaluation of Congestion Control Algorithms in Wi-Fi Networks

(in English) In the networks with TCP transmissions, the behavior of the TCP congestion control algorithm primarily affects the network performance. In such a context, the Wi-Fi network is not an exception. Hence, it is essential to determine and select an appropriate congestion control algorithm according to various network conditions. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of 14 TCP congestion control algorithms in a Wi -Fi network, which is created by the emulator Mininet-WiFi. In our evaluation, we consider the occurrence of packet loss and the variation of queuing delay. We then compare the values of Round Trip Time (RTT) and achieved bandwidth aiming to find the most suitable congestion control algorithm.
