Propagation Characteristics Analysis of 20GHz Band in Multiple LOS Urban Street Cell Environment

(in English) For 5th generation mobile communication system (5G), utilization of band of 6 to 100 GHz is investigated to increase the system capacity, because these bands have possibility of assignment of relatively wide frequency band. Moreover, small cells using low height base station antennas are investigated to be introduced due to the increase in propagation loss and system capacity, and also due to the use of high frequency bands. Since the major environments of small cells are high traffic area where pedestrians and vehicles are dense, it is important to clarify the fluctuation of propagation characteristics due to the shielding and scattering phenomena caused by these moving objects. Furthermore, since beamforming is considered to compensate for large path loss when using higher frequencies for 5G, it is important to understand the relationship between multipath characteristics and the city structure. In this paper, we investigate the characteristics of delay time and direction of arrival at the base station measured using a 20GHz band channel sounder in LOS urban street cell environment in several condition of the measurement location and the transmitting station height.
