Evaluation of radiofrequency exposure to pregnant and offspring rats in a reverberation chamber
Ryota Ito, Jianqing Wang, Daisuke Anzai (NITech) EMCJ2020-10
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Long-term carcinogenicity studies of radiofrequency exposure in the United States National Toxicity Program (NTP) showed that exposure to 2G and 3G mobile phone radio frequency radiation at levels much higher than normal can lead to cancerous heart tumors. To validate this finding, a verification test using the same reverberation chamber type exposure setup will be conducted in Japan and Korea from this year. In this study, we performed electromagnetic field analysis for the reverberation chamber type exposure setup with anatomical rat models using the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. We quantified the whole-body specific absorption rate (WBA-SAR) of rats and clarified the relationship between the electric field strength in the reverberation chamber and the WBA-SAR. In addition, we experimentally checked the uniformity of the electric field of the reverberation chamber.
