In multi-user massive MIMO systems, it is concerned that the computational load to form a weight increases drastically as there are often more than 100 antenna elements considered at base stations. Therefore, loose beamforming to select only useful antenna elements has been proposed. In this paper, we propose a new evaluation function to obtain quasi-optimal solutions for the loose beamforming using machine learning. We used binary differential evolution to actually generate the quasi-optimal solutions learned through the proposed evaluation function and the one used in the previous studies, where we compared their performances afterwards using the criteria including downlink sum capacity.As a result, it is shown that the proposed evaluation function performs better than the previous method in that it generates solutions that are less susceptible to interference and have better sum capacity. It is also implied that the problem of loose beamforming is splittable into mutually independent subproblems. |
