[Invited Lecture] Radio Propagation Characteristics for Pioneering Terahertz Wave Bands in 6th Generation Mobile Communication Systems

(in English) Development of the 6th generation mobile communications system (6G) has been actively pursued all over the world. For actualizing extreme-high-speed communication exceeding 5G, utilization of terahertz (THz) bands above 100 GHz has been considered because a remarkably wider frequency bandwidth comparison to 5G. In this paper, for pioneering THz bands for 6G, we introduce key propagation phenomena that should be clarified to develop channel models for evaluation of the system performance, and show measurement results of building shadowing, human blockage and scattering from building rough surface up to 150 GHz bands. Also, we clarify those frequency dependency based on measurement results, and propose the prediction methods.
