Demonstration on Low Power Consumption Operation of Hybrid Pumped Multi-core Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier

(in English) Optical transmission using MCF has not only been expected to push the limit of capacity but reduce power consumption of optical amplifiers. In this work, we propose novel hybrid pumping scheme of both common cladding pumping and conventional individual core pumping including pump sharing technique on MC-EDFA and experimentally demonstrate low power consumption effect of MC-EDFA with number of used cores and wavelengths. We confirmed power reduction of over 25% from the hybrid pumped 19C-EDFA compared to individual core pumping.
