Detecting task-relevant spatiotemporal modules and their adaptation-dependent modulations

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) It is still unclear how the central nervous system (CNS) controls our bodies. A hypothesis about neural control is that CNS controls groups of joints or muscles (modules) rather than each joint or muscle independently. Another hypothesis is that the CNS controls task-relevant motion components rather than task-irrelevant components. Although, the two concepts' relationship remains unknown, e.g., unimportant modules possess task-relevant information. In this study, we propose a framework to evaluate task-relevant modules while combining the two concepts in a data-driven manner. We also examine the influences of motor adaptation on modules, resulting in that motor adaptation affects task-relevant modules rather than conventional modules.
