A Study of Multi-directional Heart-rate-estimation with Discrete Wavelet Transform and Band Pass Filter with mm-Wave FMCW Radar

(in English) When detecting a subject’s biological signals with mm-wave FMCW radar, some interference can be removed by the distance between each reflective object and the radar. However, there is a lot of noise in the radar vital signs. In the case of the process of the Fourier transform, the change is small in the frequency spectrum and the data is easily buried in noise. Therefore, the frequency components of the heartbeat signal were extracted by frequency decomposition using the discrete wavelet transform(DWT) and band pass filter(BPF) to the waveform containing the desired frequency. In this study, measurements were taken from the front, back, left, diagonally up front, and were compared with the Electrocardiogram(ECG) result, respectively. Compared to the ECG in the frequency domain, the mean RMSE in the four directions for the five subjects was 0.06026 Hz in the front, 0.1079 Hz in the back, 0.0802 Hz in the left and 0.082 Hz in the diagonally up front. The best results were obtained in the front, followed by the left, diagonally up front and back.
