Theoretical Design of Wideband Bandpass Filter with Transmission Zeroes

(in English) This paper proposes a quasi-elliptical wideband filter with steep skirt characteristics by combining short-circuited-stub-loaded-parallel-coupled-lines and open-circuited stubs, as well as the corresponding design theory. First, we design a Chebyshev-type wideband bandpass filter consisting of short-circuit stubs, a parallel coupling line, and short-circuited-stub-loaded-parallel-coupled-lines, based on synthesis theory. Next, by replacing two-stage open-circuited-stubs with short-circuited-stubs at the input-/output-ports, two attenuation poles are realized in the stopbands near the cutoff frequencies. As a result, steeper roll-off characteristics are obtained. To confirm the proposed design theory, as a practical example, a wideband bandpass filter with a fractional bandwidth of 38% is designed, fabricated and measured. Simulation, measurement and theoretical results agree well with each other, which validates the effectiveness of the proposed filter structures and corresponding synthesis theory.
