Fabrication of single-mode Y-branch waveguides using the Mosquito method

(in English) Due to the rapid progress of cloud computing technology, data traffic in intra and inter datacenter networks is continuously growing. Therefore, it is required to increase the data transmission capacity of optical fiber networks. Currently, mode-division-multiplex (MDM) technology is expected to address the above fiber bandwidth limitation problem. Hence, several MUX/DEMUX devices have been proposed as a coupling element for FMF with single-core SMFs including polymer waveguide type devices. We developed the Mosquito method for fabricating polymer waveguides, and it is already confirmed that the Mosquito method is capable of fabricating single-mode waveguides with circular cores. In this paper, the appropriate fabrication conditions are investigated for single-mode Y-branch waveguides in the Mosquito method and polymer optical Y-branch waveguides are fabricated for unique low-loss MUX devices.
