This presentation reports on a backscatter communication system using a two-dimensional (2-D) waveguide. A backscatterer (Bx) modulates an externally supplied carrier wave by switching its terminating impedance at the surface coupler port. The Bx, the data source in the communication system, can operate with very low power consumption, because it requires no radio frequency (RF) oscillator nor amplifiers in itself. It will enable distributed batteryless sensors on a 2-D communication environment, to constitute the Internet of Things (IoT)-spaces. |
