This paper proposes novel multi-sector Yagi-Uda rectenna to achieve wide area wireless power transmission. The proposed technique adopt the parasitic elements that are closed to the feeding element, which is the power transmitting unit, works as the power receiving unit to light the LED, and at the same time, this works as the director. The Yagi-Uda antenna arrays consisting of this parasitic elements are placed in sectors to propagate power in multiple directions. We calculate the wireless power transmission efficiency using the kQ product from the S-parameters obtained by electromagnetic field analysis. As a result, the multi-sector Yagi-Uda antenna could be achieved that it makes the wireless power transmission efficiency kept at 10% or more even if the distance from the feeding point is increased in all the sectors arranged. Each element of this multi-sector Yagi-Uda antenna was composed of a rectifier diode and an LED to create a rectenna. The experimental results show that the multi sector Yagi-Uda rectenna could turned on the LED in an area of about 100 mm square using a radio wave slightly leaking from the microwave oven. |
