Corner point detection with reliability metric for homography warping of planer objects

(in English) When classifying flat and rectangle objects, such as product packages on shelves, from a slanted image taken at an angle, the accuracy can be degenerated compared with the image taken from right in front of the object. For solving this problem, homographic distortion of the image should be removed by estimating the corner points of the object. This estimation can be achieved by a DNN which performs regression from a image to corner points. But, if the regression is incorrect, the classification can be incorrect. For avoiding the damage caused by incorrect corner point detection, we try to define the reliability metric of the corner points. This metric can be defined by combining regression network that estimates the coordinates of the four corner points and other network that regresses the heatmap of the four corner points. Through the experiments, we evaluate the effectiveness of the reliability.
