In recent years, effective utilization of biosignals has been progressing in medical science and industrial applications. The brain activity can be considered as circuit network activity in the gray matter, and a small current is then generated in the corresponding area. The electric signals caused by this current can be measured as brain waves on scalp, and are used for preoperative diagnosis of diseases and estimation of treatment locations. However, in the clinical site, the human head is assumed as a sphere and tissues are represented in a simple manner, which may cause a notable estimation error on the source localization. In this study, we derived Lead Field Matrix (LFM) for several detailed human head models and we evaluated estimation accuracy due to model heterogeneity based on Matching Pursuit method which is one of sparse modeling. As a result, in noise-free environment, averaged estimation error was less than 1 mm in all models, suggesting that the influence of model heterogeneity is small. In high noise environment, averaged estimation error in the anatomical model and Non-Uniform model were 14.84 mm and 12.59 mm, respectively, we confirmed that the estimation accuracy varied with model heterogeneity. |
