Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Multi-user MIMO spatial multiplexing has been recognized as an indispensable technique to significantly improve the spectrum efficiency. On the other hand, spatial diversity has long been recognized an indispensable technique to mitigate the multipath fading effect and to improve the signal transmission quality. Recently, we introduced user-wise joint transmit-receive diversity (JTRD) into multi-user MIMO spatial multiplexing and then confirmed its effectiveness in a fading environment. In this report, we provide the theoretical basis of multi-user MIMO coordinated with user-wise JTRD. A set of user-wise JTRD weight vectors at base station (BS) and each user can be determined by solving an eigenvalue equation constructed of single-user MIMO channel associated with each user. There are two types of user-wise JTRD by which side (BS or user) solves an eigenvalue equation to determine the JTRD weight vector. Their features are shown. The link capacity achievable by multi-user MIMO coordinated with user-wise JTRD is analyzed to show that the downlink capacity is equal to the uplink capacity when user-wise downlink transmit power constraint is used.
