Temporal Variation of an Open Voltage Obtained by an AM Radio Broadcasting Rectenna

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The authors are conducting research on energy harvesting by using AM radio electromagnetic waves because our institution is close to AM radio stations. The MF wave used for AM radio is affected by the ionosphere whose state is different between the daytime and the nighttime. Therefore, it is considered that the output of an AM radio rectenna differs between daytime and nighttime. In this paper, we make a prototypes of a short coil and an open coil and install to the rectenna. In the experiment, the open voltage obtained with the rectenna is measured for 24 hours to consider the effect of the ionosphere. As a result, it is found that the ionosphere affects both coils and the difference due to temporal variation was larger for a short coil than for an open coil.
