System Wide Information Management (SWIM) concept is now discussed for the standardization of the data format and exchange protocol internationally in order to share the required information efficiently and safely among related stakeholders of civil aviation. In this paper, we present results of validation test for availability of Aeronautical Mobile Airport Communications System (AeroMACS) as a wireless media to connect the SWIM around the airport. We carried out flight experiments by AeroMACS and SWIM prototype system from Sendai Airport to Fukushima in order to confirm the possibility of expanding of AeroMACS coverage. Furthermore, we conduct validation tests of air-ground information sharing by SWIM-enabled applications to support FF-ICE (Flight and Flow Information for a Collaborative Environment) based operation. The results show that the coverage can expand to 18km from the ground station. Moreover, FF-ICE demonstration shows the effectiveness of aircraft access to SWIM using AeroMACS. |
