An LC multi-stage matching circuit is widely used as a matching circuit for a power amplifier (PA) for mobile communication. On the other hand, in recent years, in the study of PA using CMOS-FET (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor) with low power supply voltage, a differential amplifier that can increase the output voltage amplitude with respect to the power supply voltage has been studied. Along with this, many matching circuits using transformers have been studied. In the case of a differential PA, in addition to the advantage of voltage amplitude, the load impedance can be set twice as much as that of a single-ended PA, which makes it possible to reduce the impact of parasitic resistance. Therefore, a wide band is expected in the matching circuit using transformer. In this report, we outline the transformer matching circuit and examine the matching circuit with the most basic configuration, which is one transformer plus one capacitance. Furthermore, the fractional band width is compared with the LC matching circuit, and the problem is described. |
