[Invited Talk] Displacement measurement based on fiber optic system

(in English) The optical systems including optical interferometers and intensity correlators play an important role in optical measurements, which is easily realized by using optical communications devices such as optical fibers, optical modulators, and optical amplifiers. The electro-optic devices for the optical communications systems can make the best use of continuously advancing electronic instruments. As varieties of physical or chemical quantities have been measured by using fiber optic sensing systems, measurement of static or dynamic displacement, bending displacement, and distributed strain is especially important in monitoring the conditions of structures and shape sensing. In this paper, we present our research of (i) dynamic displacement measurement using phase modulated fiber optic interferometer, (ii)displacement measurement using fiber optic intensity correlator, (iii) bend displacement sensor using a multicore fiber, and (iv) distributed strain sensing based on multi-frequency Brillouin scattering in an optical fiber.
