A method to detect waterdrops on a steel plate by using ultrasonic oscillation is shown. Two angle beam probes are set to a steel plate, and these are used as a transmitter and a receiver for A0 mode Lamb wave. An amplifier combines the transmitter and the receiver to form an oscillation loop. The presence or absence of the waterdrops on the steel plate is evaluated by the output signal from the amplifier. It is shown by experiments that an amplitude of harmonics in the frequency spectrum is decreased when the waterdrops are present on the steel plate. The detection of waterdrops is therefore possible by monitoring the amplitude of harmonics. |
