In the current X-ray Computed Tomography (CT), the scattered X-ray becomes a factor that causes an artifact in the reconstructed image and is removed by the grid attached to the detector. However, since the scattered X-ray also contains information about the object, the removal of the scattered X-ray wastes the information. In 1994 Norton proposed a reconstruction method that utilizes the physical properties of Compton scattering. This method may provide promising modality in the future but is premised on having sensors equipped with extremely high energy resolution. In recent years, the effectiveness of iterative reconstruction methods has been confirmed in CT using primary X-ray only. If such an iterative reconstruction method can be introduced into Norton’s method, a reconstruction with sufficient quality is expected by an ordinary-energy resolution detector. We confirmed this through numerical experiments. |
