Monitoring cough, which is an early symptom of COVID-19 and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, is useful for early detection of these symptoms. On the other hand, photoplethysmography(PPG) can acquire a variety of biometric information with a single sensor, such as pulse rate and SpO2. If the presence and frequency of cough can be obtained using this sensor, the value of its use will be enhanced. Therefore, in this study, we propose a method for detecting cough using PPG. Since PPG signal is affected by respiration, we first obtain the respiratory waveform from PPG signal, and then cough is detected from the waveform shape. |
