The effect of interference on in-vehicle wireless LAN communication with IEEE 802.11ad (hereinafter 802.11ad) for in-vehicle wireless harness is investigated in communication quality. Two cases of interferences regarding both with beamforming signal strength and with penetration intensity of vehicle body materials from surrounded vehicles are considered in the evaluation. This is because communication delay, which is determined by the number of retransmissions and backoff time, increases when the amount of such interference increases. Beamforming strengthens radio wave in a specific direction which an antenna is facing. Therefore, if beams from out of vehicle face own vehicle, interference strength is strong and communication quality decreases. FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastics), which is recently using for a vehicle body, can penetrate the radio wave more than metal. In order to understand the impact of these factors of interference variation on communication quality, we evaluated communication quality using a model in which vehicles are densely put and cause severe interference. |
