When a WLAN station (STA) installed on a mobile device communicates with an Access Point (AP) deployed over the ground, its link condition becomes unstable due to mobility and/or interference from surrounding equipment. Therefore, handover and rate control of common unicast transmissions do not work properly, and it is difficult to realize reliable communications. In order to solve this problem, we focus on data transmissions that combine broadcast transmissions to multiple receiving points and packet-level forward error correction. Then, in order to further improve reliability and to realize simple and flexible deployment of receiving points, we propose data transmissions utilizing multi-link transmissions and WLAN relays. In order to prevent multiple relays from redundantly forwarding the same packet, we consider applying overhearing function to each relay. Furthermore, in order for STA to adapt to the variation of link quality toward receiving points, we propose rate control for STA to dynamically change its data rate based on its position and the link quality for surrounding receiving points. With computer simulations, we evaluate the proposed scheme, and investigate its effectiveness. |
