Leaky waveguides with slots are used for snowmelting in microwave band. When a plurality of waveguides are arranged to melt snow in a wide area, if all the feeding points are arranged in the same direction, the radio waves radiated in the air are attenuated according to the distance, so that the snow melting state becomes not uniform. On the other hand, if the waveguides are arranged so that the positions of the feeding points are alternated, the traveling directions of the radio waves are opposite to each other, which may cause problems such as cancellation of the radio waves. Therefore, in this study, we proposed a method to match the traveling direction of radio waves by using a left-handed waveguide as the waveguide arranged in the opposite direction. The results of analyzing and comparing the radiation pattern and the electromagnetic field distribution for each of the three cases with different combinations of waveguides are shown. |
