An MSB Prediction-Based Method with Less Prediction Errors for Reversible Data Hiding in Encrypted Images

(in English) In this paper, we propose an MSB prediction-based reversible data hiding method in encrypted images. The proposed method has extended the MSB prediction process of the previous work, and thus the data hiding capacity could be improved. In the previous work, the scan direction in MSB prediction is uniquely determined for each image, and the adjacent pixel, which has been scanned just prior to the current pixel, is used as a predictor for the current pixel. Therefore, a lot of prediction errors occur especially when the difference between the current and adjacent pixels are large. In contrast, the proposed method introduces an algorithm that can select the adjacent pixel, which serves as a predictor, without determining the scan direction. Accordingly, it is possible to avoid choosing the adjacent pixel with large difference from the current pixel and improve the hiding capacity. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method in terms of hiding capacity and computational complexity.
