In this paper, a method to calculate the threshold factor of constant false alarm rate (CFAR) is proposed. In this method, a threshold factor is calculated assuming that CFAR processing is performed in a correlated K- distributed clutter environment. Clutter parameters (scale parameter, shape parameter, and correlation coefficient of K-distributed clutter) are estimated after observing clutter data; further, the parameters of probability density function (PDF) that represents the joint probability distribution of the cell under test (CUT) value and average value of reference cells are identified. The threshold factor of CFAR can be calculated using the PDF defined by the identified parameters. By tabulating the calculated threshold coefficient, the threshold coefficient can be selected according to the observed clutter data status (scale parameter, shape parameter, correlation coefficient). |
