It has been reported that compared with DC poling (DCP), the AC poling (ACP) could significantly improve the dielectric constant and piezoelectric constant of Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-PbTiO3 (PMN-PT)-based piezoelectric single crystals used in the probe of medical ultrasonic diagnostic equipment. However, if the applied electric field is too high, it will be in an over-poling state and unnecessary spurious vibration will appear. In this work, 0.1 Hz, 10 cycles of ACP, and 100 seconds of DCP were performed at 80 °C, and the piezoelectric, dielectric, and spurious characteristics at room temperature were compared and evaluated. Small spurious oscillations were observed in the DCP sample, and the spurious oscillations became large in the case of high electric field ACP (HV, 5.0 kVrms/cm). When we used a low electric field ACP (LV, 3.5 kVrms/cm), the sample showed spurious-free, with ε33T/ε0 = 7000, piezoelectric constant d33 = 1570 pC/N, tan δ = 0.35%, and electromechanical coupling coefficient k33 = 92.2%. Moreover, when the ACP temperature was lowered to 0 °C, spurious oscillation was hardly visible even in HV condition. In conclusion, optimization of ACP electric field and temperature is important. |
