A 920MHz band rectenna with impedance transformed small loop antenna

(in English) Small loop antennas have technical features of miniaturized size and less degradation with closing ground metals or human bodies. Furthermore, extreme high impedance more than 10 kΩcan be obtained for high-sensitive rectennas in μW operation. However, they are not suitable for antennas with kΩ-class impedance, due to enlarged size. In this report, the impedance transformed small loop antenna with two series capacitances Cs at the output port is proposed for miniaturization of the kΩ-class small loop antenna. The series capacitances Cs realize functionality of impedance transforming. Small sized 10 kΩ-class small loop antenna can be connected with the rectifier that requires kΩ-class impedance. As a result, the rectenna with the impedance transformed small loop antenna achieves the halved size compared with the conventional one. The measured rectification efficiency of 34 % at the input power of -10 dBm is obtained, and this is the almost same one as the conventional case.
