Fe-Co alloys with large magnetostriction have attracted much attention to magnetostrictive vibration power generation device. In the present study, (Fe0.7Co0.3)100–xBx (at. %, x = 0–15) alloy single-crystalline films of 100 nm thickness are prepared on VN(001) single-crystal substrates at a high substrate temperature of 600 °C by UHV magnetron sputtering to investigate the intrinsic magnetostriction property. As the B content increases from 0 to 5 at. %, the magnetostrictive coefficients of (λ100, λ111) increase from (+200×10–6, –10×10–6) to (+310×10–6, +20×10–6). Slight addition of B atom promotes B2 ordering while keeping the crystallographic quality and enhances the magnetostriction. Thickness in micrometer scale is required for practical application. Electroplating is employed to prepare thick Fe100–yCoy (y = 0–95) alloy films. The λ values of Fe70Co30 and Fe30Co70 poly-crystalline thick films are respectively +120×10–6 and +130×10–6. Fe-Co thick films with large magnetostriction are successfully prepared by electroplating. |
