Design of a three-section-type Quadrature Hybrid Coupler using broad-side and offset coupled lines in stripline structure

(in English) In this study, a three-section-type quadrature hybrid coupler for an IF(Intermediate frequency)-band image rejection mixer in a radio telescope using millimeter and sub-millimeter wavelengths is configured. Although many literatures have shown good frequency characteristics and unique circuit structures, detail information for circuit structure design is not shown. Therefore, it is difficult to determine a transmission line type, a substrate material, a substrate thickness, and a circuit structure and to configure a multi-section type quadrature hybrid coupler. A systematic design method is proposed to solve their problems. The proposed design method is applied on a circuit structure design of a broadband three-section-type quadrature hybrid coupler using $lambda$/4 broad-side and offset coupled lines of stripline structures. Validity of the proposed design method is shown since the configured quadrature hybrid coupler has good frequency characteristics.
