Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We study a POF alkane sensor coated with a swollen polymer cladding mixed with carbon black using the ESD method. This sensor uses the change in transmitted light intensity when the light propagation switches from leakage mode to waveguide mode due to the change in refractive index caused by swelling. ESD method is a thin-film coating method by applying high voltage to a liquid and spraying it in the form of a spray, and it can be applied in a dry process. However, antistatic treatment is necessary because of the high electric field applied to the insulating polymers and cores. Carbon black is a conductive material, which is useful for the antistatic effect of ESD method on the polymer core, and its light absorption property improves the sensor sensitivity by absorbing the leakage light during leaky operation.
