It is essential for wireless communications to recognize radio propagation's spatial characteristics, including path loss and shadowing. A major application that needs accurate radio propagation estimation is dynamic spectrum sharing since the radio propagation of the secondary system is used to calculate the interference conditions against a primary system. Although we need the measurement data outside of the coverage of the secondary system for interference calculation, crowdsensing with mobile terminals cannot measure the data in such an area. Therefore, we should develop a spatial extrapolation method that estimates the received signal strength out of the coverage of the secondary system. To cope with the research challenge, the author is investigating radio environment imaging that constructs the radio map out of the coverage of secondary system based on city environment information such as buildings height and elevation. In this talk, we first introduce an example of radio environment imaging that utilizes a deep generative model to translate the image of the city environment into radio maps. Then we show the advantage and disadvantages of the proposed method and finally discuss the future challenge of this field. |
