Adaptive Transmission Power Control for Upward Link in Wi-SUN FAN Network

(in English) In recent years, demand of the Internet of Things (IoT), which connects to the Internet all kinds of things such as appliances with sensors and meters by wireless communications to utilize large-scale data, has been increasing, and Wireless Smart Ubiquitous Network Field Area Network (Wi-SUN FAN), a wireless communication standard for IoT oriented to outdoor infrastructure, has been attracting attention. In Wi-SUN FAN, Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) Routing Protocol for Low-power and Lossy Networks (RPL) is adopted as a routing protocol. In RPL, each node autonomously selects its parent based on the network status to perform multi-hop communication. In Wi-SUN FAN multi-hop communication, it is necessary for nodes to adaptively control the transmission power according to the communication environment in order to reduce the power consumption without degrading the connectivity. In this paper, we propose an adaptive control method of transmission power using Wi-SUN FAN standardized control frames which can be applied to the uplink of Wi-SUN FAN network. We evaluate the proposed method and show that power control is effective in reducing power consumption.
