Comparison of Multimodal Cortical Activity in Focal and Generalized Epileptic Seizures Using a Multimodal Probe

(in English) It has been revealed that epileptic brain activity was observed via not only electrocorticography (ECoG), but also cortical temperature, and concentration of hemoglobin, which is obtained via Near-infrared spectroscopy. Thus, multimodal probe which measure ECoG, cortical temperature, and concentration of hemoglobin simultaneously was proposed to improve the assessment of epilepsy. In this study, preoperative monitoring was performed using the multimodal probe. Patient was 31-month-old female who suffered from epilepsy with cortical dysplasia in the right frontal robe. The probe was installed near the right motor cortex and two focal seizures and three generalized seizure was observed. We introduce change in active current potential, direct current potential, cortical temperature, hemoglobin concentration related to focal and generalized seizures.
