Ensemble learning for road damage detection

(in English) As most of the roads in Japan are approaching the renewal stage, there is a need for automatic detection of road damages. In relation to this, a competition (GRDDC) had been held using road damage images and annotated Road Damage Dataset. In this competition, the effectiveness of ensemble models using multiple models was demonstrated. In this competition, the effectiveness of ensemble models was demonstrated. On the other hand, determination of hyperparameters and combinations of models for ensemble training has been done empirically. Therefore, in this paper, we train the models with various different hyperparameters, evaluate accuracy of the combined ensemble models, and investigate the effect of these factors on the accuracy. As a result, it is found that the batch size is not very important, but the accuracy of a single model and the matching resolution in training and inference are important.
