Evaluation of a Millimeter-wave WBAN Fairness Improvement Method Using a Concourse Model

(in English) In the millimeter-wave (mmW) band Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN), the effectiveness of a Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) based WBAN fairness improvement method using busy time was evaluated using a concourse model. The WBAN using mmW band is expected to solve the interference problem between WBANs. In mmW band WBAN, the number of users who receive interference varies due to the linearity and attenuation characteristics of mmW. The concourse model is a densely populated environment during congestion, and it is a model in which regularity in the orientation of WBAN users occurs. In this paper, we first investigate the number of interferences between mmW and microwave WBAN in the concourse model. As a result, the unfairness of communication opportunities between mmW WBAN is clarified. Next, we evaluated the proposed fairness method using the total communication time and fairness index by computer simulation. It was shown that the proposed method can significantly improve the fairness while minimizing the degradation of the total communication time.
