We evaluated changes in renal volume with postural changes in the supine and upright positions using an original MRI that can obtain functional information in any posture (multiposture MRI). We compared the volumes of the whole kidney, renal cortex, renal medulla, and renal pelvis were compared in the supine and upright positions.
The volumes of the whole kidney, renal cortex, and renal medulla were decreased in the upright position, and these differences between postures potentially provide new diagnostic information. |
