(in English) Applications of Radio over Fiber technologies have been intensively discussed in International Microwave Conference since the late 1980s and then International Topical Meeting on Microwave Photonics (MWP) was established in the 1990s for further discussion on interdisciplinary field between microwaves and photonics. Since then, MWP technologies have been widely used for wireless communications, broadcasting, measurement equipment and etc. With this background and because of academic maturity, international standardization of MWP based technologies was expected to develop by international standard organizations such as International Electronical Commission (IEC) in the 2000s. This paper overviews IEC activities related to MWP based technologies which have been conducted by IEC TC103.
