Providing communication areas on the lunar surface for exploration of the lunar surface etc. in the 2030s has been considered and investigated. For this purpose, it is necessary to grasp the characteristics of radio propagation on the lunar surface. However, since the lunar surface is covered with soil called regolith that contains a large amount of metal compound components, the reflection characteristics of lunar surface may differ from those on the earth and the radio propagation model obtained on earth may not be applicable on the lunar surface. Therefore, we carried out experiments and investigated the reflection coefficient of smooth lunar surface using a lunar regolith simulant. We report the evaluation results in this paper |
