Basic study of guided wave pulse compression by airborne ultrasound excitation

(in English) We have studied the non-contact material evaluation method using an airborne ultrasound phased array (AUPA) as the scanning elastic wave source technique that scans an elastic wave source in two dimensions and measures at high speed.
The ultrasound emitters that construct the AUPA are difficult to emit pulsed sound waves, because it utilizes resonance drive. Therefore, the artifact and the decrease in the imaging accuracy of defects occur for the guided wave propagation imaging result using the ultrasound wave in the material. As one method to solve this problem, we have considered performing pulse compression processing using a chirp wave for the transmitted wave of the guided wave propagating in the material and visualizing the guided wave propagating image in the material as a pulse wave propagating image.
In this report, for the purpose of realizing pulse compression of the guided wave by airborne ultrasound excitation, we verified the effectiveness of the pulse compression process for the guided waves propagating in the mortar sample, excited by the chirp waves emitted from AUPA.
