A study on EEG signal features for discriminating shapes and colors of simple visual images.

(in English) In this study, we trained an LSTM-based discriminator proposed by Spampinato et al. to discriminate shapes and colors of simple visual images from EEG signals in order to investigate why the discriminator discriminated image types of natural images with high accuracy from EEG signals in the studies by Spampinato et al. However, we could not replicate the high accuracy. Therefore, we investigated whether shapes and colors are reflected in features of event-related potentials (ERPs), event-related spectrum perturbations (ERSPs), and inter-trial coherence (ITC). The results showed the ERP might reflect differences in color and shape, and ITC might reflect the type of shape.
