Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Compensation to auditory feedback delay is crucial for accurate speech motor control. We propose a Kalman filter model for estimating auditory feedback delays during self-generated speech. This model accounts for behavioral data such that adults who stutter show a stronger delayed auditory feedback adaptation effect than non-stuttering controls. It further reveals that this differential effect stems from an imprecise estimation of the reafferent auditory feedback delays. We discuss the close connection of our model to state feedback control (SFC) model of speech production, and argue that the SFC model should incorporate the estimation of reafferent auditory feedback delays.
