EXPTIME-Completeness of Generalized Tsume-Chushogi

(in English) We consider the `Tsume-ChuShogi' that restricted chushogi such that at every turn, the attack-side player (the first player) must check the defence-side Gyoku (King), like Tsume-Shogi for Shogi. The computational complexity of a generalized Tsume-Chushogi by spreading the boards into $n times n$ is investigated. We show that the problem to determine whether the attack-side player can give checkmate the game is EXPTIME-complete by using a log-space reduction from $G_4$ game, which is already known EXPTIME-complete (Provably difficult combinatorial games, SIAM J. Comput., vol. 8, 1979).
