When firefighters work at disaster areas, their safety management should be carefully operated. To treat firefighters' behavior correctly, a position collection system for safety management is important. Since the accuracy of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is significantly low inside buildings, an alternative acquisition of the position inside buildings is required. In this paper, we propose a method of indoor localization based on Simultaneous Localization And Mapping (SLAM), combined with Pedestrian Dead Reckoning (PDR) using accelerometer and gyroscope, in order to manage the safety of firefighters with a positioning device that can operate indoors. |
