Study of Multi-access VPN Systems with Hardware Accelerators

(in English) In recent years, the use of VPN services has increased rapidly due to the spread of telework, and the use of VPN services that do not depend on access networks such as fixed and mobile communication networks is increasing. We have been studying software-implemented VPN systems, but higher performance is required for VPN systems to meet the recent increase in demand. In this study, we investigated a system configuration that utilizes a hardware accelerator to realize high-performance VPN systems that meet this increased demand. In the process, we clarified the impact of the acceleration configuration on throughput. This paper reports the results of these studies.
