A network-based intrusion detection system (NIDS) monitors a network and detects unauthorized traffic. Currently, a variety of research has been studied on NIDS, and machine learning has attracted much attention for performance improvement. However, the generalization performance of the trained model on a single organization is limited because it also has a limitation for the amount of data and features. In this paper, we propose a distributed NIDS using federated learning to preserve data privacy. The simulation results showed that the proposed system can achieve high accuracy with privacy protection. |
